Season Update #1
It began as a cold, ugly, and sloppy day at field #7 - and the weather wasn't all that great either... You could feel the anxiety in the air as the grey, black, and white "Wild Lutes"/"Sluggers"/"Beavers" took the field. What followed was a series of "Oh nooo's" and "Oh craps" and "What was that?'s" from the beautiful women littering the stands.
It wasn't all bad news as Mark "ORECK XL" Scheuffele and Kyle "I bend in mysterious ways" Banick scooped up a handful of hard hitting screamers for outs in the 2nd game. The most athletic move of the day came from Pastor "I still got it...and then some" Rockhoff as he attempted to tag a runner and then, as though unable to stop his momentum, proceded to gracefully "Olympic style" hurdle the sliding opponent with a form comparable only to Carl Lewis. His young student of the ministry, Vicar "I'm to holey for my shoes" Voss, left much to be desired in the area of his athleticism as he, in the same breath, whipped the ball directly into the dirt, threw his hat and glove into the dugout, yelled at the ump, and tore his shoes wide open. There is still much learning to be done for this young "Daniel son" (Karate Kid - Look it up, people!)
The day ended with 2 losses. And if (small and flickering though it may be) there is a light at the end of this long tunnel called Messiah "Wild Lutes-Beavers-Sluggers" Softball, it's this: They still played better than the Co-Ed team....
